What are ‘Ethicals’?
People are becoming more and more concerned over the Social, Environmental and Ethical issues that confront our world
today. Subjects as diverse as environmental improvement, global warming, genetically modified foods,
gambling and the destruction of the rain forests are increasingly on people’s minds these days and there are many
ways in which you can choose to actively support or avoid these causes through everyday activities such as buying
organic food, donating to particular charities, recycling and monitoring your carbon foot-print. These choices
virtually always involve you making a financial decision – usually ‘how to spend?’ However, there are now rapidly
increasing ethical choices you can make about all of your finances, from your savings and investments to your
insurances and even your mortgage.
If you have concerns that the companies in which you invest might be exploiting Third World countries or damaging
the environment, or if you have concerns that you might be inadvertently supporting company activities that you
don’t approve of then you may want to find out more about ethical investment, also known as Socially Responsible
Investment (SRI). Finansec Green specialises in holistic financial planning where your ethical values and beliefs
are of fundamental importance to the advice we give.
